Who is behind the brand?
Hello, my name is Émilie Boyer Navarro, and I am the creator of the Nayaë brand. To give you a brief overview of my background, I spent four years as a jewelry artisan at a jewelry school, and then I worked for six years for major houses in Place Vendôme. This allowed me to acquire a lot of skills before launching my own business. I didn't want to just dive in headfirst.
How was Nayaë created?
I had wanted to start my own business for three years, but I didn't dare right away. So, I waited a bit, and in the end, I think it was for the best, because I gained a lot more experience before starting on my own.
Originally, when I was little, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I find that jewelry combines the world of fashion with the manual side that I enjoyed. That's also why my first collection features women, somewhat like a fashion show.
What was your biggest challenge in creating the brand?
For me, the biggest challenge is to make a piece of jewelry that is both beautiful and practical at the same time, because with many pieces of jewelry, you sometimes realize they are not comfortable to wear. So, what matters to me is that the person finds their style, finds the jewelry beautiful, but also comfortable to wear.
Your mantra?
Well, I have a little phrase that I always keep in mind. It's about staying humble, but humble with others, with yourself, because sometimes you can't do what you want. You have to be humble. That's just how it is. And also, being respectful towards others, the people you meet, the people you work with, that's very important.
Your essential accessory?
My essential accessory at work is my lab coat, my "fashion show outfit," but otherwise, my essential accessory for my brand is my little necklace.
The Instagram account that inspires you?
I really like Iris Van Herpen because I find she has a lot of volume and at the same time, there are so many details, and it's magnificent. And since I love fashion, everything comes together once again.
