Hello, I'm Raphaëlle, creator of the Sellier Paris brand.
How was the Sellier Paris brand born?
Sellier Paris was born from a passion for leather goods, luxury, and accessories in general, and a passion for manual work. From these two passions, I was led to train in saddlery and leather goods. I made products for myself, and that's when I created my first suspended glasses case to wear around the neck. I created another one, a slightly different size, that could be worn across the body, for my mom, so she could always have her phone with her. I had a few requests from relatives, family, and friends, and it seemed like people liked the products. That's what led me to create this high-end artisanal leather goods brand.
Sellier Paris offers leather products entirely handmade, from start to finish, including the stitching, the famous saddle stitch.
Sellier Paris offers a small number of items through which I try to embody discreet luxury. It's important for me to be part of a circular and sustainable economy. Today, I think this is an element that cannot be ignored in the current economy. And so I chose to source all my leathers exclusively from resellers of dormant stock from major luxury houses.
Your favorite piece?
Without hesitation, the standard glasses case, that's where it all started, and I really couldn't do without it. I've used it daily since the beginning, even before creating the brand.
What obstacles did you encounter in creating the brand?
Of course, there are many obstacles because when you embark on entrepreneurship like that, often you start alone, and while you have a passion and an area of expertise, you end up doing a bit of everything, a lot of things you don't know or at least don't master.
You have to do sales, you have to do communication, you find yourself being the artistic director of the photo shoot to prepare your website, so all these areas that you don't know, but the positive side is that you learn a lot of things, and quickly.
What are the future projects for Sellier Paris?
Initially, it's about increasing my visibility, trying to gain more recognition, simply to boost my sales. And a new item is also planned, always in keeping with the DNA of Sellier Paris.
Do you have a Parisian address to share with us?
I adore Parisian architecture, and even after years of living in Paris, I'm always amazed during strolls along the Seine, through the gardens, and around the squares. It's always a joy for me to wander through Paris.
It's not a specific address, but I always recommend restaurants in museums. I find it's always a great idea. You generally have a majestic setting; if you go to the Musée d'Orsay, the cafeteria upstairs with the view of the Seine, through the clock, it's quite magical.
