Stéfania Quintayé, designer for Federico Serrani

Who are you?

My name is Stéfania Quintayé. I'm an international lawyer and also the creator of the Federico Serrani brand, an Italian leather goods brand based in the Marches, my home region.

Why did you choose the name Federico Serrani?

Federico Serrani was my great-grandfather, my mother's father. He was an artisan shoemaker in my home region, the Marches, in Italy—a region renowned for its leather goods, leather, bags, and shoes.

It's a tribute to this incredible artisan, but also to the cultured man, philosopher, and book collector he was.

What makes your bags unique?

My husband is a fashion photographer, and I'm a lawyer. So, we had the idea of uniting our professional worlds by creating bags that are both beautiful and functional.

We noticed that there weren't many elegant bags designed for technical uses.

I also travel a lot, so we wanted to merge our three worlds: travel, photography, and business.

What inspires you?

Every Federico Serrani creation is born from literary inspiration. It all starts with a book that inspired me, or that inspired my grandfather, Federico Serrani.

We then add other inspirations related to materials, to extend the journey and tell the story we began with.

What about the future?

For the future, my desire is to continue innovating, to keep designing practical, original, and beautiful items, just as we do now. It's also about seeking synergies and collaborations with other artisans specializing in Made in Italy. That's why we launched a podcast called Circolo Serrani. In it, I've conducted interviews with genuine Italian artisans.
